Neumeister 2013 Sauvignon Blanc Moarfeitl

Wine Region: South East Steiermark, Steiermark
Climate: A blend of Illyric and Pannonian climate, lots of rain during the year (average 880 mm) with plenty of sun, warm days- cool nights
Vineyard: The Moarfeitl vineyard consists of two plain levels. Two thirds of the vineyard is on steep slopes facing south west and one third is on a flat plateau. The vines are 18 - 35 years old.
Soil: Steep Slope: Contains chalk, heavy sandy loam
from tertiary sediment.
Plateau: Contains chalk, lighter gravely sandy loam from
fine tertiary sediment.
Vinification: Skin contact of 36 hours, spontaneous fermentation in traditional big oak barrels (2.100 and 1.000 l), maturation on the fine yeast (sur lie) for 18 months. We use our gravity flow winery to avoid pumping and refrain from fining or other oenological interruption.
